Demmer Raises Over $300,000 in Second Quarter; Ends June with $250,000 Cash on Hand
Demonstrating the growing momentum behind his campaign, Republican Congressional candidate Randy Demmer announced today that his campaign raised $303,641.01 in the second quarter of 2010. The campaign ended the reporting period with $251,172.68 cash on hand, and $375,433.01 raised in this election cycle to date.
“I am so very thankful for all the people across the First District who contributed to my campaign. Thanks to their generous support, we were able to meet and even exceed our fundraising goals for the quarter,” said Randy Demmer. “We still have a lot of work to do, but thanks to over 1,000 separate contributors, we are on track and well-positioned heading into the next phase of the campaign.”
Digging deeper into the numbers shows the momentum that the Demmer campaign has built in just the last few weeks. Over 90% of the contributions were made in the second half of the quarter, when Randy’s duties in the Minnesota legislature came to an end on May 17. The overwhelming majority of contributions also came from individuals here in Minnesota, a strong signal of the grassroots strength of the campaign.
“The support that I have received throughout southern Minnesota shows that voters are tired of out of control government spending, bailouts, and creation of additional government programs. They know we cannot legislate our way to prosperity, nor can we build the economy or create jobs by growing government,” said Demmer. “The American people are demanding real leadership; we have to make the tough choices to reduce reckless levels of government spending and to quit stifling economic growth with irresponsible levels of debt.”
“Walz and this Congress have chosen to ignore their Constitutional responsibilities and have failed to even propose a budget, attempting to postpone necessary decision-making until safely past the election. Minnesota voters see through these political games, and that is why I am confident we will have the support we need to win this November.”
